SQLOrlando Monthly Update – March 2020

News

Our evening quarterly meetup is this Wed at our downtown location. We’ve got two great presentations scheduled and as always we’ll be networking (“talking shop!”) before the meetup and we’ll have dinner together at 7:30 or so, my favorite part of the meetup.

Our Getting Started class is coming up on April 18th and we have 50 signed up, so we added 15 more seats. It’s an event designed for those who want to get into a role dealing with data and aren’t sure what the different job titles do or how to get started. It’s built for someone starting out or career changing. I hope you’ll click the link and look at the schedule and think about who you know that might benefit from attending. It’s a free event, including lunch.

Don’t forget Orlando Code Camp on Mar 28th! There are some data topics, but plenty of other stuff to learn too. Free lunch, free learning! Hope to see you there.

SQLOrlando Monthly Update – February 2020

News

We’ve got a lunch coming up this week in Lake Mary. If you live/work in the area, hope you’ll attend. For those of us who are introverts lunch with strangers can be a little daunting, something we very much keep in mind. Our goal is to greet you warmly and then let you decide how and if to participate from there. If you want to quietly listen and see how it goes, that’s fine! We’ll be on the back patio of Friendly Confines, usually we’re the only group there.

We’ve also set up a Slack for members of this group. It’s definitely an experiment, but one we hope increases the number of conversations and connections. Use this link to join through Feb 23 (after that contact us and we’ll send you a new link). It’s all free, just a matter of setting up a Slack account.

SQLOrlando Monthly Update – January 2020

News

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a nice holiday and are back ready to learn and grow in 2020. We’re still working on plans for the year, but one thing we really want to do is have more informal events where we can just talk and share ideas. As you can see below we’ve already scheduled two lunches and we want to do more, but it’s hard to to know where in Orlando to have them – help us figure it out by completing this this two minute survey.

If you’ve been wanting to see Brent Ozar teach in person, May 1st in Jacksonville is your chance! It’s $249, register soon, we expect that class to sell out.

Katie Schmidt will be joining the organizing team this year. She’s already lined up two great speakers for the March meetup and is taking the lead on our first ever Getting Started event on April 18th. She’s also going to be working on growing our volunteer team.

Finally, I hope you’ll join me at the ONETUG/Azure Meetup on Jan 16th. ONETUG has a been great partner over the years and it’s always fun to talk data with developers!
